 FAQ
How easy is it to move the system from car to car?
The system is modular and generally most components are contained in a console between the seats. Most installers that we use are instructed to use "quick-disconnect" type connectors so that the console can be moved and reinstalled quickly. It takes an installer about the same time to re-install our system as it does to move a light bar system.

What car models support the Project54 system?
Almost any car can support the Project54 system, since it utilizes standards and uses already available police components it fits in most cars. To date it has been installed in Chevrolet, Dodge, and Ford cars and trucks.

Can other computers run the system?
The Project54 system requires a Windows 2000 capable computer that should have a touch screen and either serial or USB port. So, almost any laptop will work as a Project54 system, cutting the per car cost dramatically.

Can the system be installed in an existing car?
The Project54 system can be retro-fitted to most existing police cars. Since it's system works in parallel with existing police equipment it can be easily installed in an existing car.

Where do I buy Project54?
The Project54 system comes in two parts, the software and hardware. Software and hardware can be purchased through DuraTech USA, Inc. and authorized resellers listed on the Project 54 website.

What devices are supported?
Project54 supports a wide variety of devices from the standard police vendors, Whelen, Code3, Stalker, kustom Signals, Federal signals and many others, there is a list on the web site.

Who can install Project54?
The web site contains a list of trained installers, however most people familiar with the installation of police equipment can do the job. A list of installers is again available on the web site or call your favorite installer for information.

How can I add an existing device to a Project54 system?
If you wish to install a new device into the Project54 system there are several avenues open to you. First you can contact the Project54 project to see if the equipment you are interested in is scheduled to be included. If you have software programmers available to you, Project54 provides guidance through documentation and a dummy application to help with development.
